Sian Magill- Songwriter
Sian says: "I have been ʻwritingʼ now for about 7 years. I try, with varying degrees of success, to paint a picture of the everythingness of life: the topical nature of my songs reaches from the mundanities and quotidian details of our everyday existence to the extraordinary. I am inspired by wordsmiths of all crafts, be it song, poetry, spoken word or literature, and I strive to draw all of these influences together to create something resonates with me personally and audiences alike. This project has lead me to write about the women left waiting, those who endeavoured to keep a brave face through immeasurable pain and heartbreak. Though many of us will never be able to fully empathise with this grief, the bridge that connects this era from the last is not broken. Soldiers are still at war, and their loved ones still live day-to-day, strung out between letters, keeping the proverbial ʻhomefireʼ burning in hope of good news". The track is enhanced by the beautiful Cello writing and playing of Maddy Hamilton.
