about

Anna Hester-Songwriter
Anna has been making music ever since she joined Milton Keynes Youth Choir at the age of eight.

Today, Annaʼs main musical focus is as a folk/pop singer-songwriter, and over the past few years she has gigged in Cambridge, London and Berlin, as well as many times in Milton Keynes, one highlight being IF: MK in 2014.

Anna Hesterʼs debut EP 'In the Meantime' was released in September 2014 and launched at Milton Keynes Arts Centre.
Annaʼs song ʻEveryone Sangʼ takes its title from a poem by Siegfried Sassoon (heard here before the start of the song). The song is an attempt to encompass many different stories from Living Archiveʼs interviews, including May Brookʼs memories of the church service at the end of the war, Ada Croftʼs tales of singing at Newport Workhouse as a little girl, and the letters between Lewis Lloyd and his mother. The song is one of community, of local music, and ultimately of the strength and hope that people can sustain when they come together in times of crisis.

about

Planet Zyz Milton Keynes, UK

Planet Zyz isn't cool. That's because I'm not cool and Planet Zyz is just where music and stuff I'm involved with gets made and put out to the Big Wide World. Cottage Industry? Well, actually a Terrace-in-Milton-Keynes industry. Every album is different to the others, and none of them quite fit in with where all the Cool Stuff is. Outsider Art? This stuff is from a different planet. ... more
